Porters,
In the past week or so, I've been working on the psc/ppc0025 branch,
which drops the 5 from $] and $^V, as proposed in PPC0025. I've fixed
most tests, and the remaining failing ones are in porting/ or related to
Module::CoreList (which I think is expected):
Failed 3 tests out of 2650, 99.89% okay.
../dist/Module-CoreList/t/maintainer.t
porting/cmp_version.t
porting/corelist.t
This is of course only the core's test suite. It would be great if
other people on this list could test this branch against CPAN (or their
own code), so that we could get a feeling of what Perl 42 would really
look like.
This is not the final implementation (support for the proposed new
environment variables has not been implemented, for example).
The branch is at <https://github.com/Perl/perl5/tree/psc/ppc0025>.
PPC0025 is readeable at
<https://github.com/Perl/PPCs/blob/main/ppcs/ppc0025-perl-version.md>.
